Description of Telemetered Gauging StationStation Number: G8150151Station Name: Celia Creek Upstream Darwin River Dam This site is located at Celia Creek, approximately 55 km SSE of Darwin. It was established in 1972, as part of a program to investigate the water resources in the Northern Territory. It has since been incorporated into the Departments’ Flood Warning Telemetry Network, providing near ‘real time’ river height data. The instrumentation at the site measures height and rainfall. The height is recorded in metres, to a local gauge datum (GD). This data is relayed back to the Departments’ Hydrographic unit in Darwin via telemetry. This data is automatically forwarded to the Bureau of Meteorology. The maximum recorded river height at this station was 3.889 m, recorded on 2nd of March, 1997. |
