Description of Telemetered Gauging StationStation Number: G8150036Station Name: Bees Creek at Horne Road This site is located upstream of the Horne Road culverts. It was established in November 2001 as part of a program to investigate runoff and water quality into Darwin Harbour. It has since been incorporated into the Departments’ Telemetry Network, providing near ‘real time’ stream height data. The instrumentation at the site measures river height, rainfall and automatically takes water samples for physical analysis. The river height is recorded in metres, to a local gauge datum (GD). This data is relayed back to the Departments’ Hydrographic unit in Darwin via telemetry. The Bee’s Creek gauging station at this site usually flows from November to July due to wet season runoff, but ceases to flow for the remainder of the year. The largest event recorded at this site occurred in January 2003, reaching 3.1 m on the gauge. |
