Station Name: Darwin Harbour Tide Gauge at Fort Hill Wharf

This site is located at Fort Hill Wharf in Darwin. It was established in January 1959 as part of a program to investigate tidal variations in the Northern Territory. It has since been incorporated into the Departments’ Telemetry Network, providing near ‘real time’ tidal level data.

The instrumentation at the site measures tide level. The level is recorded in metres, to a local gauge datum (GD). This data is relayed back to the Departments Hydrographic unit in Darwin via telemetry.
