Description of Telemetered Gauging StationStation Number: G8150028Station Name: Berry Creek Upstream Cox Peninsula Rd This site is located upstream of the Cox Peninsular Road adjacent to Berry Springs turnoff. It was established in October 1999 as part of a program to investigate Runoff and Water Quality into Darwin Harbour. It has since been incorporated into the Departments’ Telemetry Network, providing near ‘real time’ stream height data. The instrumentation at the site measures river height, and automatically takes water samples for physical analysis. The river height is recorded in metres, to a local gauge datum (GD). This data is relayed back to the Departments’ Hydrographic unit in Darwin via telemetry. At this site, Berry Creek usually flows from November to July due to wet season runoff, but ceases to flow for the remainder of the year. The largest event recorded at this site occurred in April 2006, reaching 6.1 m on the gauge. |
