Station Name: Green Ant Creek at Tipperary

This site is located on Green Ant Creek, approximately 80 km W of Pine Creek. It was established in 1966, as part of a program to investigate the water resources in the Northern Territory. It has since been incorporated into the Departments’ Flood Warning Telemetry Network, providing near ‘real time’ river height data.

The instrumentation at the site measures river height. River height is recorded in metres, to Australian Height Datum (AHD). This data is relayed back to the Departments’ Hydrographic unit in Darwin via telemetry. This data is automatically forwarded to the Bureau of Meteorology.

The maximum recorded river height at this station was 7.109 m, recorded on 5th of January, 2008.
