Description of Telemetered Gauging StationStation Number: G8140157Station Name: Fergusson River Upstream Bondi Creek This site is located 3.4 km (by river) downstream of the Edith River junction or 35 km downstream of the Stuart Highway bridge. It was established in September 2000 as part of the Departments’ Flood Warning Telemetry Network, providing near ‘real time’ river height and rainfall data. This data is available to provide timely advice regarding the prediction of flood events that may affect the Daly River area. The instrumentation at the site measures rainfall and river height. The river height is recorded in metres, to a local gauge datum (GD). This data is relayed back to the Departments’ Hydrographic unit in Darwin via telemetry. The Fergusson River at this site has a base flow of 0.5 m3/s, (Cumecs) maintained throughout the dry season. The largest event recorded at this site was in February 2002, reading 15.27 m on the gauge. |
