Station Name Todd River at Rocky Hill
This site is located on the Todd River, at Rocky Hill, approximately 26 km SE of Alice Springs. It was established in 1978, as part of a program to investigate the water resources in the Northern Territory. It has since been incorporated into the Departments’ Flood Warning Telemetry Network, providing near ‘real time’ river height data.
The instrumentation at the site measures river height and rainfall. River height is recorded in metres, to a local gauge datum (GD). This data is relayed back to the Departments’ Hydrographic unit in Darwin via telemetry. This data is automatically forwarded to the Bureau of Meteorology.
The maximum recorded river height at this station was 5.659 m, recorded on 31st of March, 1988.
