Station Name: Roe Creek at South Road Crossing

This site is located on Roe Creek, at South Road Crossing, approximately 13.5 km SSW of Alice Springs. It was established in 1972, as part of a program to investigate the water resources in the Northern Territory. It has since been incorporated into the Departments’ Flood Warning Telemetry Network, providing near ‘real time’ river height data.
The instrumentation at the site measures river height. River height is recorded in metres, to a local gauge datum (GD). This data is relayed back to the Departments’ Hydrographic unit in Darwin via telemetry. This data is automatically forwarded to the Bureau of Meteorology.
The maximum recorded height at this station was 3.342 m, recorded on 31st of March, 1998.
