Cabomba is declared a Class A (to be eradicated) and Class C (not to be introduced to the Northern Territory) weed in accordance with the NT Weeds Management Act 2001. Cabomba is also a Weed of National Significance.

Cabomba is a submerged freshwater plant originally traded as an aquarium species. Plants are usually rooted in soil although stem fragments are often seen floating on the water’s surface. Populations are typically very dense with long stems that can fill the entire water column. Cabomba is an aggressive invader of freshwater ecosystems.
