About Us
The Department of Natural Resources, Environment and the Arts undertake a number of science, research and development activities to improve our understanding of the Territory’s native vegetation resources and to ensure that it’s use and management is ecologically sustainable.
The department also administers land clearing controls for native vegetation clearing on pastoral leases and freehold land outside of the existing control plan areas and monitors land clearing across the Northern Territory.
The current policy for native vegetation management in the Northern Territory reads: The Northern Territory is committed to sustainable land use, through minimising the impacts of land clearing on the Territory’s natural resources. Therefore, clearing of native vegetation in the Northern Territory requires approval for all land tenures. |
