Events

The Museum and Art Gallery has a dynamic event program that engages all ages. Events include talks, seminars, school holiday activities and performances. Information about upcoming events including those associated with the exhibition program can also be found at what’s on or exhibitions.

Venue: Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, Darwin

Entertainment, award presentations and speeches will comment at 6.00pm. Award exhibition will open to the public from 5.00pm-8.00pm. All welcome.

A lunchtime talk by Joanna Barrkman, Curator South East Asian Art, MAGNT.

In anticipation of the forthcoming MAGNT exhibition TAKSU: The Art and Craft of Bali, explore the hand carved masks and shadow puppets used in the Balinese performing arts. Featuring recently filmed footage of Balinese puppeteer, I Made Sidia.

Biodiversity of marine molluscs in the Northern Territory.

A lunchtime talk by Dr Richard C. Willan, Curator Natural Sciences, MAGNT.

Molluscs of Darwin Harbour, not just pretty shells! What are molluscs? Why they are ecologically important? How are they sensitive indicators of environmental change? Learn about the iconic longbum and False Trumpet, giant clams and the infamous black-striped mussel.
