The Malacology (mollusc) collection comprises about 50,000 lots of dry shells for scientific research and education purposes, about 5,000 specimens stored in either 70% ethyl alcohol for morphological study or absolute ethyl alcohol for genetics studies. The bulk of both collections are registered and databased. Marine, land and freshwater species of molluscs are represented in the collections. |
