Environmental Guidelines
Environmental Guidelines are policy instruments issued by the EPA to assist proponents, industry, and the public, to understand the minimum requirements, for protection of elements of the environment that the EPA expects to be met during the assessment of development applications, in conducting business and carrying out daily activities.
You are encouraged to do better than the minimum. Proponents of development applications capable of demonstrating that they will meet or exceed the minimum requirements are likely to find that their assessment will be more straight forward and take less time.
Anyone who wishes to deviate from the minimum level of performance in an Environmental Guideline would be expected to put a well-researched and clear justification to the EPA arguing the need for the deviation.
