Codes of Practice
Codes of Practice (CoP) are developed through close cooperation between Government and Industry such as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Building Industry associations and the Minerals Council. Codes of Practice are driven by industry to encourage a standard approach to issues such as environmental management and as an economic incentive to present a level playing field for all in the industry.
Codes of Practice have been drafted for the following industries by the NT Chamber of Commerce:
- Automotive Repairs Industry
- Spray Painting and Surface Coating Industries
- Service Station Operations
- NT Hotels Industry
- NT Mango Industry
In the near future, further Environmental Codes of Practice will be drafted to assist many other industries within the Northern Territory to achieve environmental sustainability.
To compliment these documents a number of Environmental Guide Notes have been developed to further assist implementation of the Codes of Practice and to provide business and industry with practical advice on reducing their environmental impact.
The Chamber is committed to encouraging and promoting environmental best practice within NT business and industry. For further information please see the NT Chamber's Environmental Codes of Practice and Guide Notes.
