Biodiversity and Native Vegetation Management

The sustainable use and management of natural resources is important to the prosperity of people living in the Northern Territory. A key to this sustainability is that the integrity of the ecosystems involved is not damaged.  Maintaining biodiversity and native vegetation management are important sustainability outcomes.

The Northern Territory Wildlife website considers biodiversity conservation and explains the Biodiversity Conservation Unit’s role.

There are a number of relevant National strategies including the National Strategy for Ecologically Sustainable Development and the National Strategy for the Conservation of Australia’s Biological Diversity.  The Northern Territory Government has also developed The Northern Territory Parks and Conservation Masterplan.

Guidelines and information about clearing native vegetation in the Northern Territory are available at the Department of Natural Resources, Environment and the Arts’ website Native Vegetation Management in the NT.

Greening Australia is a not for profit, community based organisation with over twenty years experience in native vegetation management in the Territory.
