| Description: |
This project will install solar panels and associated equipment at the school to demonstrate to the students and community the concept and advantages of renewable energy. Energy generated will be sold back to PAWA via the local-grid and the system connected to computer software that will demonstrate and monitor energy generation and the subsequent reduction in greenhouse emissions. |

The Anzac Hill Precinct |
| Description: |
Student at Anzac Hill High will work with the Lhere Artepe Aboriginal Corporation and Tangentyere Council to develop the ‘Anzac Hill Precinct’ as a showcase of native vegetation with special significance to the indigenous communities of Central Australia. The area would be used as a teaching aide to promote educational transference of local traditional ecological knowledge and cultural practices between members of the community and our students. The two main areas would be indigenous ‘bush tucker’ and ‘bush medicine’. |

Strong history, strong future, strong now |
| Description: |
Students will work closely with Parks and Wildlife, Weeds Management Branch and indigenous organisations to undertake a range of activities focussing on the main feature of the Borroloola community, the McArthur River. It is intended that students develop a `micro' understanding of how and why this river system is critical to their lives and why it should be managed with a careful and sensitive approach.
Action learning tasks will include mammal trapping, freshwater macro invertebrate testing, food web analysis, weed identification activities. They will also investigate Parkinsonia control programs, mapping its distribution and study biological control techniques by breeding and releasing native wasp predators. |

They will practise and take responsibility for the collection and analysis of data as relevant to the sustainability of this environment. Turtle Dreaming 2: Return to Wulawunga |
| Description: |
Middle Primary students at Pularumpi School will host a three day excursion and a camp at Wulawunga on Melville Island and invite two sister schools, one of which is from the mainland, to assist them in developing an action plan for marine sustainability. The Action Plan will be written by students for students and will be presented to the local council.
The project follows on from very exciting work the school undertook in 2005 when they worked with the World Wildlife Fund looking at sea turtles and the sustainability of marine life. Project work was displayed in the Landcare office in Darwin and at the NT Landcare Awards in Katherine. |

Red Sand Hill Homeland Centre and a small group from the hub school will work with the Owen Springs and Palm Valley Rangers to improve student’s knowledge of the habitats and ecology of local native birds and learn why we should protect them. They will establish habitat areas using endemic plants to attract more birds and build nesting boxes to give the children an interest in nesting. The project aims to modify current attitudes and treatment of birds/birds eggs and nests. |

The project will develop habitat for local fauna including a protected frog habitat and cane toad trap to demonstrate management strategies to reduce the impact of invasive species. |

| Description: |
Kintore Campus is one of the most remote indigenous secondary schools in the Territory. Students will work with Charles Darwin University and Greening Australia to learn about the values and ecology of endemic trees and shrubs in this desert environment. They will investigate the ecological services they provide to the local fauna and the amenity they provide to the built environment. A drip irrigation system will be installed to ensure plant survival and demonstrate good water usage. |
