What am I commenting on and where do my comments go?

Public comment and review is an essential part of the environmental assessment process. Those people who have an interest in, or live near a proposed development can have valuable knowledge that provides a vital contribution to both the understanding and effective environmental management of a region or locality.

The Environmental Assessment Act provides two opportunities for formal public participation in the assessment of a project: firstly, when Draft Guidelines have been prepared for either a Public Environmental Report (PER) or an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS); and secondly, when the PER or EIS is placed on public exhibition.
