Community Consultation

The Department seeks comment from individuals in relation to the various proposals that are currently up for review.

Those people who have an interest in, or live near a proposed development can have valuable knowledge that provides a vital contribution to both the understanding management of a region or locality.

The following is a list of proposals open for comment and also those that are closed.

West MacDonnell National Park Draft Joint Management Plan
The West MacDonnell National Park is one of Australia’s greatest natural assets and home to rare and threatened native wildlife. The Northern Territory Government, in partnership with Traditional Owners, has released a draft Plan and is encouraging community feedback.

Watarrka National Park Draft Joint Management Plan
The community is invited to provide feedback on the draft Plan for Watarrka National Park.  Watarrka National Park is an important conservation area and major tourist attraction of Australia’s Red Centre, and includes the spectacular Kings Canyon.

Situation Analysis Report for Western Davenport Water Control District
A situation Analysis Report has been released as the first step in drafting the water allocation plan for the Western Davenport District.  The Northern Territory Government invites the community to have their say.

Draft Gamba Management Plan Released
The draft Weed Management Plan for Gamba Grass has been released for public comment. The Plan is about establishing the objectives and outcomes to be achieved by land holders and land managers in relation to gamba grass, and the minimum actions needed to achieve these outcomes.

Draft Land Clearing Guidelines
The Northern Territory Government is encouraging Territorians to provide feedback on the draft Land Clearing Guidelines (2009).  These Guidelines apply to all native vegetation clearing in the Northern Territory.

Darwin Harbour Regional Management Strategic Framework 2009-2013
All users and stakeholders of the region are encouraged to have their say on the Strategic Framework to ensure it reflects community aspirations for our harbour.  The draft Strategic Framework outlines a set of guidelines for the management of environmental, social, cultural and economic values and uses of the Darwin Harbour region.

Chambers Pillar Historical Reserve Draft Joint Management Plan 2009
This Joint Management Plan is the start of the partnership between Traditional Owners and Parks and Wildlife for the best management of Chambers’ Pillar Historical Reserve.

We welcome and encourage the community to look at the draft management plan and provide us with feedback.

Howard Springs Nature Park draft Plan of Management
A draft Plan of Management has been developed by the Parks and Wildlife Service after consultation with the community. The draft Plan of Management will be used to guide and direct management of the Nature Park for the next 5 to10 years.
