Desert Mob Symposium

Art Talks:

‘This is my country. This is my art. This is me.’

A symposium of Aboriginal artists talking about their work.

Each year artists from Aboriginal owned art centres travel vast distances across the desert to Alice Springs to participate in Desert Mob events. Many travel more than a thousand km, from as far away as the tiny Martu communities in the Western Desert, from the Spinifex country in the Great Victoria Desert, or from Borroloola in the Gulf Country.

Art Talks is a chance to travel back with the artists to the country where their work is produced. You will hear through their own words and see through their own films and images the artists’ perspectives on art and art making in communities, country and culture.

Presentations include guest presenter, Waradgerie artist Lorraine Connelly-Northey, emerging filmmaker/photographer Morika Biljabu from Martumili Arts (Newman, WA), collaborative painting project with Jonathan Kimberley and Kayili Artists and renowned Warakurna artist and community leader Eunice Porter.
