Building Strong Arts Business (BSAB) 2003-2006

Building Strong Arts Business (BSAB) entails three strong pathways for future development:

Talking Arts Business – Negotiation and Partnerships
Doing Arts Business – Service Delivery
Sharing Arts Business – Showcasing Opportunities

Broad Strategy Outcomes BSAB 2003-2006

Year One:
Improved delivery of arts development and support through the establishment of appropriate Government infrastructure and initiation and brokerage of partnerships to deliver the Strategy.

Year Two:
Improved and strengthened Indigenous arts industry sector through increased resourcing to sector infrastructure, increased creative and cultural development with training and employment outcomes, and scoping of support needs for underdeveloped art form areas.

Year Three:
Improved and increased profile for Indigenous arts, with the benefits of national prominence accruing to artists and the Territory, through increased and more effective showcasing, marketing and exporting.

From 2003 – 2004:

  • Indigenous Arts Development Unit
  • Indigenous Arts Reference Group
  • Arts Centre Sustainability Action Plan
  • Performing Arts Scoping Project
  • State/Territory collaborative cross-border arts development strategies: "Across the Top, Down the Middle"
  • Indigenous visual and performing arts project support through Arts Sponsorship program
  • Showcasing through existing visual arts events
  • Intellectual Property and Copyright Strategies
  • Export Action Plan
  • Indigenous Music Awards and Local Touring Strategy
  • Indigenous Calendar of Events

From 2004/2005: (in addition to continuation of initiatives commenced in 2003/04)

  • Employment Action Plan for Indigenous artists and arts workers
  • Export Action Plan providing increased employment opportunities
  • Performing Arts Action Plan

From 2005/2006 (in addition to continuation of initiatives commenced in 2003/04 and 2004/05)

  • Employment and training opportunities working through an Indigenous Tourism Action Plan
  • Visual Arts Expo
  • Review of Strategy and Plan for years four to six
