Remote Festivals Fund
The Remote Festivals Fund is for the support of remote community festivals, to establish and/or develop artistic programming and initiatives.
Funding is available for
- Arts Programming for remote festivals to deliver arts activities within a festival program.
The activities may be new or established. The primary target audience can be limited to the local community; or - Development of Community Festivals for remote festivals to grow their artistic program, management resources and cultural tourism opportunities.
For the purpose of the Remote Festival Fund:
- a festival is an arts, community, cultural or regional festival.
- remote is any festival based outside of the major urban centres of the Northern Territory.
Objectives
- Formation of a strong sense of community identity.
- Development of Northern Territory artistic and cultural practice.
- Contribution to and encouragement of history, language and cultural diversity.
- Contribution to cultural, social, and/or economic and/or regional development.
- Enhanced community engagement with Northern Territory arts practice.
- Employment of Northern Territory artists.
Eligibility
Groups or organisations.
The group or organisation must be the festival management body (including local government bodies and arts organisations).
Assessment Criteria
- Arts Programming - up to $7,500
- Quality of artistic program.
- Benefits to the cultural development of the community, including skills development.
- Resources, skills and ability to manage the festival.
- Evidence of community and arts sector support.
- Development of Community Festivals – up to $15,000 (multi year funding of up to 3 yrs)
- Artistic innovation, quality and excellence.
- Long term benefits to the cultural development of the community, including skills development.
- Accurately costed and viable budget.
- Resources, skills and ability to manage the development.
- Support from other sources, including funding, in-kind support and other income.
- Potential for improved positioning of the Festival and opportunities for cultural tourism through Festival activities.
- Evidence of community and arts sector support where appropriate.
Projects involving Indigenous artists, content or community involvement, must include evidence of appropriate consultation, agreement or support.
Acknowledgement
Recipients of all grants through the NT Arts Grants Program must acknowledge Northern Territory Government support. Logos for Northern Territory Government are available here.
