Remote Arts Partners

The Remote Arts Partners category supports arts activities delivered in remote Northern Territory locations that encourage long term, sustainable relationships between remote artists and communities and other agencies.

The partnership commitment and objectives for all parties must be clearly demonstrated within the application. Regional Arts Fund Logo

Partnerships may be based around an art form, arts event, or a community cultural development project.  Both arts to arts and arts to non arts partnerships are eligible. Partners could include: local government, community groups, private sector, state government agencies and other relevant groups.

 

Partnerships can be with non Territory based agencies if the (Territory based) applicant can clearly demonstrate significant benefit to the Territory.

 

Festivals, touring and other initiatives already eligible for support through other Australian Government Programs are not eligible for support through this category. However, complementary activities may be (eg development workshops).

The Regional Arts Fund is an Australian Government funding initiative.

 

Objectives

  • assist sustainable cultural, social and economic development within regional, remote and very remote/isolated communities;
  • develop partnerships which leverage financial and/or in-kind support;
  • encourage ongoing collaboration or support for cultural activities;
  • assist the development of cultural networks, especially in isolated areas, to facilitate skills and arts development;
  • increase employment of professional Territory artists and offer professional development opportunities for regional and remote Territory artists.
     

Eligibility

Groups or organisations.

Applicants can request up to 50% of the total expenses to a maximum of $20,000 a year for two years.

The Regional Arts Fund does not support overseas activities.

 

Assessment Criteria

  1. Artistic merit.
  2. Calibre of skills and experience of the artists/arts workers.
  3. Evidence of sound financial and project management.
  4. Clear plan and proposed outcomes including the details and outcomes for each partner.
  5. Evidence of employment or income generation or other benefits for Territory artists or arts workers.
  6. Evidence of community and arts sector support including each partner or network member.
  7. Accurately costed and viable budget demonstrating 50% of the activity budget from sources outside of the request.

Acknowledgement

Recipients of a grant through the Regional Arts Fund (RAF) must acknowledge the Australian Government and support by the Northern Territory Government by either:

  • and/ or including the phrase “The Regional Arts Fund is an Australian Government initiative supporting the arts in regional, remote and very remote/isolated Australia.  The program is delivered in partnership with the Northern Territory Government”.


The recipient must also invite the Australian Government Minister for the Arts or his/her nominated representative to attend public events associated with a project and, as appropriate, to launch or open the project.


Funding Limit

Up to $20,000 a year for up to two years

Monday, 22 June (activity must commence on or after 17 August)
