New Ideas

The New Ideas category supports projects across all art forms which aim to extend art forms, arts practice or showcasing opportunities in regional and remote Northern Territory.

This category is for the support of new initiatives and pilot projects or the transformation and re-invention of established activities.

Festivals, touring and other initiatives already eligible for support through other Australian Government Programs are not eligible for support through this category. However, complementary activities may be, eg presentations or programs that may be associated with the Festival but not central to it and another funding application.

The Regional Arts Fund is an Australian Government funding initiative.

 

Objectives

  • assist sustainable cultural, social and economic development within regional, remote and very remote/isolated communities;
  • expression of Northern Territory identity through arts and culture;
  • artist and/or art form development
  • encourage ongoing collaboration or support for cultural activities;
  • increase employment of professional Territory artists especially regional and remote artists;
  • provision of development or showcasing opportunities for Territory artists or arts workers.
     

Eligibility

Individuals, Groups or Organisations

The Regional Arts Fund does not support overseas activities.

 

Assessment Criteria

  1. Artistic merit.
  2. Calibre of skills and experience of the artists/arts workers.
  3. Evidence of sound financial and project management.
  4. Clear plan and proposed outcomes.
  5. Evidence of employment, income generation or other benefits for Territory artists or arts workers.
  6. Evidence of community and arts sector support.
  7. Accurately costed and viable budget.
     

Projects involving Indigenous artists, content or community involvement, must include evidence of appropriate consultation, agreement or support. For more information contact Arts NT on 8999 8981 or 1800 678 237 (Freecall) for callers from remote areas.

Acknowledgement

Recipients of a grant through the Regional Arts Fund (RAF) must acknowledge the Australian Government and support by the Northern Territory Government by either:

  • and/ or including the phrase “The Regional Arts Fund is an Australian Government initiative supporting the arts in regional, remote and very remote/isolated Australia.  The program is delivered in partnership with the Northern Territory Government”.

The recipient must also invite the Australian Government Minister for the Arts or his/her nominated representative to attend public events associated with a project and, as appropriate, to launch or open the project.

Funding Limit

Up to $20,000


One year only. Repeat applications for the same activity will not be accepted under this category.


Closing Date

Monday, 22 June (activity must commence on or after 17 August)
