Funding for The NEO to travel to Arnhem land in August to prepare for the Darwin Festival performance and volunteer at the Garma Festival in August.  The NEO showcased a combined performance with Garrangali Band from Yilpra at the 2009 Darwin Festival.  


Hermannsburg Potters Aboriginal Corporation

“Three Communities / One Language”

Funding for Hermannsburg Potters to support one Indigenous artist to continue their collaboration between Tiwi Art and Ernabella Artists culminating in a group exhibition of three Indigenous art centres in Canberra.


Solomon Nangamu

Solo Exhibition Opening Attendance

Funding for Solomon Nangamu to attend the mounting, final curation and opening of his solo exhibition at Boscia Galleries in Melbourne and visit two major art exhibitions, examine old collections from the region and consult with senior curators from the Indigenous Cultures department of Museum Victoria. Upon his return, Solomon will share outcomes with the community to encourage sustained and renewed interest in the sculptural tradition.


Milingimbi Art and Culture Aboriginal Corporation

Kaluumburu and Milingimbi Cultural Collaboration

Funding for a five day long workshop in the country around Kalumburu with the intension to maintain the exchange and mentoring in proceeding years.  The project aims to develop the Milingimbi ladies as artists, mentors and extend their greater understanding of art and cultural practice in the wider aboriginal community context.

Bir’yun paintings by senior secondary students

Funding to support two senior traditional artists from Elcho Island in NE Arnhem Land to attend the opening night of an exhibition of paintings with a selection of their work and of secondary students at the Darwin Entertainment Centre Gallery.  The exhibition is a culmination of a long cross generational learning project in the arts.
