Vacation Employment Program
The Vacation Employment Program provides undergraduates with the opportunity of vacation employment, relevant to their areas of study, during the major tertiary semester breaks to gain valuable workplace experience in the Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS).
Whilst preference is given to Northern Territory Government Higher Education Scholarship holders, the number of positions are limited and there is considerable competition for available placements. Accordingly, not all Scholarship holders are guaranteed a position.
The Vacation Employment Program provides paid short-term work placements within NTPS agencies, at the AO1 or AO2 level. The positions range from administrative to fieldwork, with the opportunity to develop a range of skills that may include word processing, spreadsheet creation and maintenance, communications, research, working with legislation and event coordination. Students leave better equipped with true workplace situations having made valuable and recognised contributions to the NTPS.
