Work Integrated Learning Scholarship

The Work Integrated Learning Scholarship (WILS) is an initiative through the Partnership Agreement between the Northern Territory Public Service (NTPS) and Charles Darwin University (CDU).  The WILS is a three way agreement, between the Agency, CDU and the scholarship holder.  The Agency sponsors a CDU WILS scholarship holder, and agreements are signed between CDU and the Scholarship holder (Scholarship Agreement), Scholarship holder and the Agency (Employment Contract), and the Agency and CDU (WILS Protocol).

Scholarship holders are employed by the NTPS on a fixed term temporary contract for the period of the Scholarship (3-4 years).  There is no guarantee of employment upon completion; however Graduates will be eligible to apply for the Graduate Development Program (GDP) on graduation.

The Scholarship holders are placed on Leave Without Pay (LWOP) while studying and are offered 6 -12 weeks work placements at the AO2 level during the semester breaks.

Applicants must meet strict eligibility criteria as follows:

  • are undertaking a course in higher education;
  • be commencing their first year of study or are a continuing student who has partially completed studies;
  • have a strong academic record;
  • be accepted for admission into the relevant course at CDU;
  • be Australian citizens or permanent residents; and
  • be a resident of the Northern Territory.
