Planning Scheme Amendments
Planning schemes are dynamic documents that need to be amended from time to time to meet the changing challenges and requirements of land use control.
A Planning Scheme Amendment (PSA) involves either the rezoning of land or changes / additions / deletions to text or diagrams contained in a Planning Scheme.
Anyone may request an amendment to a Planning Scheme.
The Planning Act sets out the process for amendments to the Planning Scheme, including public exhibition, a public hearing and if successful, result in the gazettal of an amendment.
The Minister must request a report from the Development Consent Authority (DCA) or other body if the proposal affects a municipal or community government area. The relevant council must be invited to the hearing and is entitled to give evidence.
