Indigenous Land Issues

Land Administration Division’s Indigenous Land Issues team

• provides assistance to the Aboriginal Land Commissioner in respect of claims under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act (ALRA) in the form of; land tenure advice, tenure history, coordination of detriment , and mapping
• facilitates the resolution of Aboriginal Land claims by negotiation
• processes applications for Aboriginal Community Living Areas on Pastoral Properties under the Pastoral Land Act
• provides information to a range of clients in relation to a number of ad hoc Indigenous Land issues (for example: Town Camps, changes to legislation, status of land)
