Litigation
The Litigation Division protects and advances the interests of the Northern Territory by providing high quality, timely and solution-driven legal services, documentation and representation. The division retains a core group of experienced solicitors to provide in-house legal advice and representation on whole of government strategic or sensitive matters.
The division aims to:
- Provide high quality legal representation of Government before all courts and tribunals.
- Provide accurate, timely and professional legal advice on the rights and liabilities of government.
- Maintain specialist legal services to provide legal advice to the Attorney General, other Ministers and Cabinet, the Chief Executive Officer and other government agencies and to monitor contracted out legal services managed by the Agency Legal Services Unit.
- Provide effective legal services for government on lead or strategic issues.
