Introduction
The Community Benefit Fund (CBF) Major Community Grants Program was established to provide funding support for community development and improvement purposes.
The funds are derived from the CBF levy collected from the operation of electronic gaming machines in licensed hotels.
The maximum grant available for each project is $200,000. The amount of funding for individual projects will be governed by budget availability and the relative merit of applications. There is no guarantee of ongoing funding.
Assessment Criteria
The CBF Committee, comprising members of key Government Departments and independent community representatives appointed by the Minister for Racing, Gaming and Licensing, considers all applications for funding and makes recommendations to the Minister.
Each submission will be assessed against the following criteria:
· Demonstrates a strong community development focus.
· Demonstrates the capacity of the organisation to deliver the project.
· Evidence of sound financial management.
· Clear plan and proposed outcomes.
· Evidence of community support and involvement.
· Accurately costed and viable budget including support from other sources.
Organisations seeking funds must be incorporated or arrange for an incorporated body to act as a sponsor.
Funding will not be provided for:
· Operational or core business activities.
· Commercial ventures, developments or outputs.
· Experimental or pilot programs, unless future funding is guaranteed.
· Projects that have already started prior to notification of the approved grant.
Reporting requirements
Formal Funding Agreements will be negotiated with successful applicants and these will detail specific conditions and arrangements.
Each agreement will outline:
· Timeframe for the project.
· Performance indicators and Reporting.
· Acquittal requirements (within 3 months from the end of the project)
· Requirements for acknowledgement of the support of the Northern Territory Government, in all public and relevant program material relating to the Approved Project.
The grant recipient retains the right to any intellectual property developed as a result of the project funded by the CBF, but the Northern Territory Government reserves the right to use any such intellectual property without cost in furthering its objectives and purposes.
Outcome of the Application
All decisions will be notified in writing within 3 months from the funding round closing date.
