

Introduction
The Community Benefit Fund (CBF) Gambling Amelioration Grants category was established to provide funding support for interventions that reduce problem gambling and minimise the harms that result from gambling.
The funds are derived from the CBF Levy collected from the operation of electronic gaming machines in licensed hotels.
Each project will be assessed against the advertised criteria and funding will be governed by budget availability on an annual basis.
The category is to provide support towards innovative and/or proven intervention programs in the Northern Territory.
Intervention can include the promotion of community awareness and education about problem gambling or deliver counselling, rehabilitation or support services to problem gamblers and/or their families.
Funding can only be used for practical intervention programs aimed at addressing gambling problems or the effects of, experienced by individuals.
Assessment Criteria
The CBF Committee, comprising members of key Government Departments and independent community representatives appointed by the Minister for Racing, Gaming and Licensing, considers all applications for funding and makes recommendations to the Minister.
Each application will be assessed against the following criteria together with the information required in the application form:
· Demonstrates a strong community development focus.
· Demonstrates the capacity of the organisation to deliver the project including qualifications of key personnel.
· Evidence of sound financial management.
· Clear plan and proposed outcomes relevant to minimising problem gambling or the effects of problem gambling.
· Evidence of community support and involvement.
· Accurately costed and viable budget including support from other sources.
Organisations seeking funds must be incorporated or arrange for an incorporated body to act as a sponsor.
Funding will not be provided for:
· Substitute funding for operational or core business activities.
· Commercial ventures, developments or outputs.
· Experimental or pilot programs, unless future funding is guaranteed.
· Projects that have already started prior to notification of the approved grant.
Reporting requirements
Formal Funding Agreements will be negotiated with successful applicants and these will detail specific conditions.
Each agreement will outline:
· Timeframe for the project/program.
· Performance indicators and Reporting.
· Acquittal requirements (within 3 months from the end of the project)
· Requirements for acknowledgement of the support of the Northern Territory Government, in all public and relevant program material relating to the Approved Project.
The grant recipient retains the right to any intellectual property developed as a result of the project funded by the CBF, but the Northern Territory Government reserves the right to use any such intellectual property without cost in furthering its objectives and purposes.
Outcome of the Application
All decisions will be notified in writing within
3 months from the funding round closing date.
