RESEARCH INTO NT GAMBLING
Two reports have been released by Charles Darwin University about gambling in the Northern Territory. One examines the prevalence of different forms of gambling and related issues. The other, prepared by ACIL Tasman, looks at the economic impact of gambling.
RACING, GAMING AND LICENSING 2005-06 ANNUAL REPORT
The material presented in this report provides detailed information on the functions and achievements of the group, including the activities and performance of the office of Alcohol Policy and Coordination, and provides operational data reported by all jurisdictions for comparative purposes.
Details of the operations of the Community Benefit Committee and statistical and other information for the Northern Territory Licensing Commission is also included in this report.
UPTAKE OF RESPONSIBLE GAMBLING CODEA research report about the initial implementation of recommendations contained in the Northern Territory Gambling Code of Practice has been released. It is titled Voluntary Implementation of the Northern Territory Code of Practice for Responsible Gambling.

NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR DECLARATION OF A PUBLIC RESTRICTED AREA - DARWIN CITY COUNCIL.
Pursuant to Part VIII of the Liquor Act the Darwin City Council has applied to the Northern Territory Licensing Commission to declare all public places within the boundaries of the following areas: Nightcliff/Coconut Grove - City Bicentennial Park, Darwin a public restricted area.

NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR DECLARATION OF A GENERAL RESTRICTED AREA - KULALUK COMMUNITY.
Pursuant to Part VIII of the Liquor Act the Gwalwa Daraniki Association has applied to the Northern Territory Licensing Commission to declare Lot 8630 Town of Nightcliff (Kulaluk Community) a general restricted area with the provisions for permits to permanent residents.

Community Gaming Regulations
New Community Gaming Regulations governing the raffles, lotteries, trade lotteries came into effect on 15 February 2006.
PRIVATE SECURITY
Changes to Private Security Act
Several changes have been made to the Private Security Act, affecting Private Security Crowd Controller, Security Officer and Security Firm Regulations, that reflect this Government's intent to enhance the integrity of the private security industry while delivering better public safety outcomes and within a reasonable fee structure.
The amendments provide for a new schedule of fees; disqualifying offences concerning aggravated common assault, misuse of drugs, theft, firearms and dangerous weapons to regulate entry into the industry; and infringement notices for relatively minor breaches Code of Conduct of the regulations such as licensees not wearing their identification numbers and other breaches of the Private Security.
