Responsible Service of Alcohol – What you need to know

If you work in the service of alcohol in the Northern Territory you are required to attain a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate. To assist industry with the initial cost training the Northern Territory Government is providing, for a limited time, a training subsidy of $40 per person.

Make sure you enrol in a course quickly to gain a place.

Training Start Dates

From 1 May 2009 onwards, all new employees have one month from their start date to attain an RSA certificate.
Existing employees have until 1 August 2009 to complete the training.
People with interstate certificates are accepted.

Training Subsidy Payment

To assist industry with the initial cost of training the Northern Territory Government is providing, for a limited time, a $40 payment for each person towards the cost of the standard course fee.
Conditions are as follows:

you need to enrol with a Northern Territory training organisation, please see link; should we link
you need to complete the nationally accredited RSA unit of competency that includes information about Northern Territory licensing laws and regulations;
you need to be currently employed at a licensed premises;
you need to enrol in an RSA course by 30 June 2009, but you have until August 2009 to complete the course;
you or your employer will be charged the gap between the subsidy and the course fee;
the subsidy payment of $40 per person will be reimbursed to the training organisation; and
the subsidy agreements will run from 27 April to 14 August 2009.
