- offences recorded by the police;
- prisoners and detainees in correctional facilities;
outcomes for drug offences; and
- court outcomes for aggravated property offences.

| Review of Aspects of the Criminal Code of the Northern Territory |

The Attorney-General has released a Report that considered the provisions of the
Criminal Code in relation to the offences of manslaughter and dangerous acts or omissions.
The Attorney-General has announced that as an outcome, section 31 of the Criminal Code will now
be reviewed to ensure that the standards for criminal responsibility for acts which cause the
death of another person are equivalent to other Australian jurisdictions.

| Construction Contract Bill |

| As part of its general package of reforms in the building and construction industry, the Northern
Territory government is committed to ensuring good payment practices by introducing legislation
that will encourage payment flow in the construction chain, prohibit unfair practices and provide
a system of rapid adjudication where payments are in dispute. A Bill for a Construction Contracts
Act has been prepared for possible introduction in Parliament later this year.

| Associations Act |
Prior January |
The new Associations Act was passed through Parliament in October 2003
and will come into effect in 2004. An extensive training and education
program will be availabe to all associations throughout the Territory.
Dates, times and venues will be widely advertised in Territory newspapers
and posted on this website. The forms will be changed in line with the
new Act over the course of the next 6 months.
