Ajax v R 28 June 2005

The applicant was sentenced in the Alice Springs Supreme Court to a total effective sentence of 9 years and 3 months imprisonment with a non-parole period of 5 years following his pleas of guilty to one count of arson, one count of aggravated assault and one count of unlawfully damaging property.

The applicant sought an extension of time in which to file an application for leave to appeal against sentence on the grounds that it was manifestly excessive.

The Crown did not oppose either application.

The appeal had not been listed for hearing as at 30 June 2005.
