Consultation on possible restrictions of cheap and problem liquor products in Darwin, Palmerston and the rural area
The Northern Territory Licensing Commission is reviewing the impact of large volume wine and wine based products in Darwin, Palmerston and the rural area.
As part of that review, the Commission is calling on residents to make submissions to the review which is considering:
- the impact of a limit or ban on the sale of large volume wine and wine based products
- the times of sale for such products; and
- the most appropriate mechanism to introduce a limit or ban.
The Commission will also determine which further review or performance assessment approaches to use to manage the impact of any decision and assist in evaluation.
“It may not be a panacea for alcohol problems in Darwin/Palmerston but there’s enough information around to show it’s worth considering.” - Commission Chairman, Richard O’Sullivan
