About the Program

The Vacation Employment Program provides students currently undertaking full-time degree studies for the first time with the opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience in the Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS). Employment opportunities are normally restricted to the major university vacation periods.

The Vacation Employment Program provides paid short-term employment within NTPS agencies, starting at the AO1 level. The positions range from administrative to fieldwork, with the opportunity to gain a range of skills that may include database maintenance, communications, research, working with legislation and event coordination.

Eligibility

Whilst preference is given to Northern Territory Government Higher Education Scholarship holders, the number of positions are limited and there is considerable competition for available placements. Accordingly, not all scholarship holders are guaranteed a position.
