If you have graduated with a degree in accounting, business, commerce, economics, finance, law, public administration or a related field, you may be able to join the Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS) through the Finance Officer in Training (FOIT) program, which is run by the Northern Territory Treasury.
The FOIT program is a year-long learning experience that provides a comprehensive package of training and development opportunities which serve to strengthen the business and finance capabilities and resources of both Treasury and the Northern Territory Government, and at the same time enhance your own individual skills and experience.
You will be provided with rotating, 'hands-on' work placements in various business units throughout Treasury, concentrated training on Treasury structure and processes, seminars and workshops on financial and economic management within the NTPS, and sessions that focus on developing your communication skills. You will also have the chance to complete a Graduate Certificate in Public Governance.
The program provides you with a temporary position for 12 months, but you may be offered a permanent appointment within Treasury after you have completed the program successfully.
