Asbestos Register
Ongoing asbestos management in the 73 Northern Territory National Emergency Response communities
Details of asbestos or, more precisely, Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) identified by the surveyors of buildings in the 73 Northern Territory National Emergency Response communities have been entered into the Asbestos Register for future management. The Asbestos Register contains recommendations from the surveyors and is used to make sure that anyone living or working in these buildings is aware of the presence of ACM.
PLEASE NOTE:- Any reference to quantity of ACM is shown in metres squared (m2) unless otherwise stated (e.g. lineal metre).
With the approval of those responsible for the management of these buildings, signs are being put in place to show whether a building has any ACM remaining.
Communities that have no identified asbestos are: Acacia Larrakia (30), Binjari (29), Engawala (10), Eva Valley (48), Jilkminggan (49), Milyakburra (25), Mt Liebeg (39), Nturiya (13), Weemol (55) and Wilora (17). Note that these communities were surveyed for asbestos in 2008 and 2009. Where asbestos was identified, it was removed and the area remediated as necessary. Whilst no additional asbestos has been identified, the NTG cannot guarantee and provides no warranty or assurance that asbestos may not identified in future.

How often is the Asbestos Register updated?
The Asbestos Resister is updated periodically as feedback is received. An updated version of the Register is generally published on a monthly basis.
