Stokes Hill Wharf Refurbishment

Overview

The project will be staged over a three year period from 2011 to 2013, with work carried out by local company Advance Civil Engineering.

The work aims to improve the structural integrity of the Wharf so it continues to be available as a tourism and recreational facility. It will primarily focus on under the deck however, reconstruction of some areas of deck will also be undertaken.

Wharf traders will continue to operate as normal throughout the project, and whilst some traffic and pedestrian access arrangements will change at certain times, the public will have access to Stokes Hill Wharf for the duration.

Benefits

  • The project will ensure Stokes Hill Wharf remains structurally sound and continues to be available as a tourism and recreational facility for locals and visitors to the Territory.

Commencement of works

  • Stage A of the project will commence during the week of 11 April 2011. The overall project is due for completion in the first quarter of 2013.
  • Stage B of the refurbishment will commence early October. Works will take place at the far end of the Wharf, close to the eatery areas. During this time it will be business as usual.
