Projects
Below is a list of some projects currently underway in the Northern Territory:
Arnhem Highway Pavement Upgrades
Pavement upgrade works will commence on the Arnhem Highway from Tuesday 16 August.
Cullen Bay Pontoon and Services
Maintenance work is being conducted on the Cullen Bay Sea Wall to be completed by December 2011.
Daly River Bridge
A new single lane bridge will be built across the Daly River, downstream of the existing crossing. The bridge will be approximately 184 metres long and will include a pedestrian walkway.
Dinah Beach Duplication - Tiger Brennan Drive
The Territory Government has begun construction of the duplication of Tiger Brennan Drive between Woolner and Dinah Beach Roads. Included in this project are improvements to the intersection of Gonzales Road and Tiger Brennan Drive.
Jenkins Road
Road upgrades have commenced on Jenkins Road, Bees Creek. Work is also due to commence early November 2011 on the upgrading of intersections at Stuart Highway/Arnhem Highway and Stuart Highway/Jenkins Road.
McMinn Street Duplication and Landscaping
Work to duplicate McMinn Street from Foelsche Street and Frances Bay Drive will commence in September 2009. The project also includes associated landscaping, the provision of new street lighting, pedestrian path and safety balustrade.
Nemarluk School
The existing Nemarluk School is being relocated to the new site, adjacent to Alawa Primary School, and will provide facilities to cater for up to 110 special needs students.
Royal Darwin Hospital Patient Accommodation
The Department of Construction and Infrastructure is project managing the construction of two accommodation facilities at the Royal Darwin Hospital. Construction will take place on behalf of the Department of Health and Aboriginal Hostels Ltd.
Royal Darwin Hospital Upgrades
The Northern Territory Government on behalf of the Department of Health proposes to modify the current Royal Darwin Hospital Emergency Department and Main Foyer.
Stokes Hill Wharf Refurbishment
The work aims to improve the structural integrity of the Wharf so it continues to be available as a tourism and recreational facility. It will primarily focus on under the deck however, reconstruction of some areas of deck will also be undertaken.
Tiger Brennan Drive
The $89 million Tiger Brennan Drive Extension project is the largest and most significant section of the $110 million East Arm Port Access Route being funded by the Australian and Northern Territory Governments to improve traffic flow to East Arm Port and Palmerston.
Five Mile/Tommy's Creek Crossing
This project is to improve access to the local communities of Daly River and Nauiyu especially during emergency situations such as cyclones and floods.
Umbakumba Road
Umbakumba Road’s 48km of sealed dual lane is on schedule and expected to be completed by Christmas this year (2011). Work has commenced.
