Cullen Bay Pontoon Works

Overview

Maintenance works are currently underway to ensure the safety and seaworthiness of this facility continues until the new pontoon and gangway are installed in 2013.

Scope of work
Work associated to this project involves:

Item Status
Installation of a new steel pile  Complete
Cleaning and extending the existing five steel piles Complete
Concrete and rock protection works Continuing to March 2013. Dependent upon suitable tides
Fabrication of new pontoon and gangway (off-site) Continuing
Monitoring the pontoon's condition Continuing
Removal existing pontoon and gangway Contingent upon stakeholders
Installation of the new pontoon and gangway Contingent upon stakeholders
Pontoon changeover - temporary fuel arrangements will apply Contingent upon stakeholders


Mandorah/Tiwi Islands Ferry
There will be no change to the Mandorah and Tiwi Islands Ferry departure/arrival times other than during the pontoon changeover period when the number of services will be reduced.

Ferries coincide with the school bus timetable will be unaffected.

Access to fuel
Vessels wishing to use the bowsers should keep clear of the ferry docking area. Marine fuel will be available at Fort Hill Wharf temporary facility during the pontoon changeover period.

Access to pontoon
The public currently have access to the pontoon however fishing restrictions apply as sign posted.
