Construction Industry Forum 2008

The Department of Planning and Infrastructure’s Construction Division hosted its first Construction Industry Forum on Monday 24 November 2008 at the Darwin Convention Centre.

The event was well attended by representatives from across industry – ranging from architects and engineers, to builders and project managers.

Presenters from the Department of Planning and Infrastructure, Department of Business and Employment and Engineers Australia covered issues such as land release, planning for the future of Greater Darwin, procurement and skills shortages.  The afternoon session consisted of workshops covering five key topics:

  • Private Public Partnerships
  • Skills shortages
  • Procurement for the construction industry
  • Indigenous participation in the construction industry
  • Alternative contracting

It is hoped the event will become an annual one – with opportunities for government and industry to continue to work together on a range of issues.
