Technical Trainee Program
The Technical Trainee program is designed to incorporate both full time employment and VET training within the Department of Infrastructure (DoI). Technical Traineeships are a great way to get started on your career, not only will you end up with a nationally recognised Certificate IV Level qualification but you will also have the industry exposure to help you gain employment in your field of study.- Technical traineeships are advertised on an annual basis generally around February each year for a mid year intake over the June/July holiday period.
- Technical Traineeships are two year programs throughout which you work full time and at the same time complete a Certificate IV Level nationally recognised qualification.
- The Technical Trainee program is aimed at the following disciplines: Civil Construction Supervision and Civil Construction Design.
- If you are successful in winning a Technical Traineeship you will be employed by Group Training Northern Territory (GTNT) and DoI will host your placement for the duration of the traineeship.
- Technical Trainees are commenced on the Technical stream, and paid against the Trainee Tech Officer T1 scale. The starting point and salary level offered is dependent on the age of the applicant, and the applicant’s previous skills and knowledge in the industry.
- The on the job component of the traineeship is made up of three or six month rotations across multiple areas of DoI to ensure maximum exposure to the many different elements within the department in relation to your desired discipline.
