Parap Primary School Upgrade – Stage 1

Sustainability Unit were invited to assist on the Parap Primary School Upgrade – Stage 1 and undertook energy modelling of the proposed administration building and various energy efficiency options

Various options were identified during the investigation, the following changes, all having a payback period of less than 5 years, were instigated and will save the school significant energy costs as described:

• 9% saving in annual administration building cooling energy through use of carbon dioxide sensing to control outside air to staff room;
• 5% saving through installation of efficient lighting;
• 2%saving by eliminating raked ceiling in administration building foyer;
• unquantified (but significant) saving by eliminating raked ceiling in library; and
• 2 % saving by making roof white instead of green.
