The branch is responsible for:
- Implementing whole-of-government building sustainability benchmarking and reporting under the NT Government Energy Smart Buildings Policy.
- Providing professional advice, energy and water audits, training and information resources to Government agencies.
- Providing sustainability advice for capital works building projects.
- Ensuring national building sustainability inititatives are technically practical and, where possible, implemented in NT Government infrastructure.
- Assisting the continuous improvement of industry and community knowledge of building sustainability issues.
BSS assists NT Government agencies to reduce building energy and water expenditure and environmental impact by providing the following range of services:
