Awards - Recognising Young TerritoriansThere are a range of awards offered for young people in the Northern Territory. They range from awards for business achievements to the recognition of community involvement. NT Young Achiever AwardsThe NT Young Achiever Awards are managed by Awards Australia. The Awards recognise those young Territorians who have contributed positively to their communities through their achievements. Minister for Young Territorians Excellence in Youth Leadership AwardThe Minister for Young Territorians Excellence in Youth Leadership Award is sponsored by the Office of Youth Affairs and runs in conjunction with the NT Young Achiever Awards. The Award recognises young Territorians who have displayed initiative, innovation, a commitment to themselves and others, and the pursuit of excellence in a leadership capacity. The winner of the Award receives $2,000 and a magnificent trophy. The Young Achiever Awards also recognises young Territorians in the following categories:

Territorian of the Year AwardsAnnounced on Territory Day, 1 July, the Territorian of the Year Awards recognises Territorians who, by their industry, innovation and achievement, have made a substantial contribution to the opportunities and lifestyle of their fellow Territorians. The Protocol Unit in the Department of the Chief Minister is responsible for managing special celebrations and events, including the Territorian of the Year Awards. The Rural Young Achievers AwardsManaged by the Department of Primary Industry, Fisheries and Mines, the Rural Young Achievers Award is presented as part of the Freds Pass Rural Show to recognise the talents and achievements of young people in rural industries and communities. Through the Rural Young Achievers Award, young people are encouraged to develop their skills in a range of areas relating to rural life and in public speaking. Student Citizen AwardsThe Student Citizen Awards, which are organised by the Australia Day Council in the NT, are sponsored by the Department of Employment, Education and Training. The Awards recognise good citizenship, not just academic or sporting achievement and promote positive, achievable youth self-image. The Awards recognise the contributions that young people make to schools and the wider community and are a celebration of all young people.
