Australian National Mental Health Strategy

Beyondblue's' major goal is to increase community awareness of depression.

DepressioNet
DepressioNet provides an on-line resource for Australians living with depression and provides a place for families and friends to go to for information, help & support. The dNet team are Australians from a variety of backgrounds that have personal experiences with depression.

Early Psychosis Prevention and Intervention Centre
EPPIC is an integrated and comprehensive psychiatric service aimed at addressing needs of older adolescents and young adults with emerging psychotic disorders in the western metropolitan region of Melbourne, Australia. Visitors can find out about pilot projects, the latest research and services offered by the centre.

Mental Health & Wellbeing, Commonwealth Dept. of Health and Ageing
The site for National Policy information, Mental Health issues and publications.
The site includes information on the range of projects funded under each Strategy, key documents (eg. National Standards for Mental Health Services, Youth Suicide in Australia: a background monograph, National Mental Health Policy, Youth Suicide in Australia: a national youth suicide prevention strategy, Community Awareness Program pamphlets on mental illness), publication lists and some links.

Mental Health Council of Australia
The Mental Health Council of Australia (MHCA) is the independent, non-government sector peak body established under the National Mental Health Strategy (http://www.health.gov.au/hsdd/mentalhe/) to represent and promote the interests of the mental health sector and advise on mental health in Australia.

Mental Health Foundation Australia (MHFA)

This Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care site includes information on expenditure community-based services, service mix, case management consumers and carers, standards, legislation and consumer rights, workforce, research, and more.

Multicultural Mental Health Australia
Multicultural Mental Health Australia (MMHA) provides national leadership in mental health and suicide prevention for Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. MMHA links a wide range of state and territory mental health specialists and services, advocacy groups and tertiary institutions to promote the mental health and well being of Australia's diverse communities.

National Early Psychosis Project (NEPP)
This site has information about early psychosis, a database of resources for clinicians, carers and people with a mental illness, information about events happening in regard to early psychosis and discussion groups.

Reach Out
Reach Out is the world's first online youth suicide prevention service. It consists of three sites: 1) Chillout is an interactive site that provides relevant information and allows youth to post their ideas and concerns. 2) Parents and Friends provides general information about suicide and suicidal behaviour. 3) The Professional Forum provides information for professionals and is password protected.

The Mental Health Research Institute of Victoria
The Mental Health Research Institute is the only medical research institute in Australia devoted solely to the scientific investigation of the causes of serious psychiatric disorders, particularly schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease and the development of improved treatments for these disorders.
