Gove District Hospital
The Gove Peninsula, situated at the far north east end of Amhem Land, is one of the last true wildernesses with sandy beaches, great fishing and diving and an abundance of flora and fauna.
Gove District Hospital, located in Nhulunbuy, provides acute and specialist care for about 16,000 people in the East Arnhem District. Our catchment areas covers about 6400 square kilometres, from Milingimbi in the west to Groote Eylandt in the south east.
Most of our patients live in one of 12 main East Arnhem communities, or outlying small Aboriginal homelands on the mainland or nearby islands.
The hospital employs about 40 nurses who thrive on the unique opportunity to work closely with Aboriginal people, particularly in the areas of accident and emergency services, and paediatrics. |
