Welcome

The Department of Health and Community Services (DHCS) provides health care to all Territorians across the vast geographical area of the Territory, with its mission to "improve the health status and wellbeing of all people in the Northern Territory."

Most of the Territory is north of the Tropic of Capricorn so naturally it has a warm climate - but it can also be very cold in some areas at certain times of the year.

A great many Territorians have come from somewhere else often intending to only stay for a short time but end up living here for years, if not decades. That’s one of the things that make Territorians so accepting of newcomers.

With the younger population and large number of families, the Territory has much to offer children. Most events and festivals held throughout the year cater for families.

The Northern Territory has a range of public and private preschools, primary schools and secondary schools. The multicultural population and closeness to Asia gives many Territory children opportunities and experiences they wouldn’t get in other parts of Australia.
